Binsfeld Delivers Help To Guatemala

Jan 11, 2021

When international COVID complications threatened the delivery of critical supplies to a volunteer fire department in Guatemala, Binsfeld Engineering stepped up to the challenge.

In 2018, owner Mike Binsfeld was volunteering with local non-profit Buckets of Rain in Guatemala in response to the deadly Volcán de Fuego eruption and connected with local Bomberos Voluntarios (voluntary firefighters/first responders). He quickly noticed that they were without important equipment due to lack of financial resources to obtain it. Upon return to the US Mike sprang into action, reaching out to a local contact and ultimately acquiring a surplus of completely functional gear including coats, pants, helmets, and boots. He was able to hand deliver most of the items they needed by carrying the gear as extra luggage in 2019. Mike had plans to hand deliver more equipment in 2020 but his travel plans were interrupted due to the global pandemic. When COVID shut down Mike’s travel plans, Binsfeld Engineering immediately offered to help by shipping some much-needed Scott Air-Pak systems directly to the volunteer fire department.

With the critical equipment in hand, volunteers are now able to provide help while staying protected – something that may be more important now than ever. Binsfeld Engineering is grateful to have been a small part of the solution.
